Condillac is hidden from view between the wooded hills that run alongside the river Leyne. Nature lovers walking here may have the good fortune to encounter several deer. And from some viewpoints the chateau can be seen. This is an imposing structure from the 15th century, built on the site of a 10th century predecessor. The site, along with the fortified village which surrounds it, is private and visits are not permitted. Only the church is open to the public.
Condillac was once renowned for its sparkling mineral water, whose spring was found in 1845 in the bed of the river Leyne. At the peak of its success, it was sold under the title “Queen of table waters”. After a number of problems, distribution was ended in 1978.
A pleasant walk can be had, starting from the Town Hall (Mairie) and leading up the hill, from where the Rhone valley and the Ardèche mountains can be seen.
